The Uncastellum vineyards are an initiative resulting from the vision and efforts of a group of winemaking enthusiasts who agree on the ethical need of carrying out the project while respecting with the ecosystem of the land on which it is developed.
This is the starting point to create high quality wines in accordance with the principles of ecological winemaking.
Afterwards, along 1999, the parcels suitable for that purpose, were selected by the municipality of Uncastillo, in the “Cinco Villas” area. The parcels chosen are located in the state of “Torre de Valdefunes”, on the slopes face south east and with an altitude of 725-850 meters. All of them are located in a really natural beauty area with the isolation conditions required for that aim.
In the spring of the year 2000, they proceed to plant the first 18 hectares under the following proportions: 50% Tempranillo,30% Garnacha,10% Merlot,10% Cabernet-Sauvignon.

The first wine vintage was obtained in 2003. But due to a heat wave lashed the fields during that year, the quantity of grapes was really scarce. However the quality of the wines obtained started to become famous all arround the world and to win several awards such as: Salón Internacional del Vino (Madrid), Ecoracimos(Córdoba), Biofach (Nuremberg), etc.
Among these rewards we can emphasize one of the most pleasant for us, which was the prize to the best Vineyard in Aragon 2006 awarded by the “Aragonian Gastronomical Academy”.
This fact encouraged all the staff (Pilar, José, Jose Luis and Carmelo) to continue their job so far, looking forward to keep on producing excellent wines.
